The fundamental purpose of this chapter is exploring planning tools and techniques. It covers expansion of some of the activities covered in chapter 2, then moves on to selection of a specific focus for the paper and provides a thesis checklist. Finally it states various organization methods for the paper including topic outlines, sentence outlines, and graphic organizers.
